Using Data Visualization to Improve Financial Literacy
Overview
In this project, I led the redesign of Fidelity's Portfolio Analysis tool to modernize and enhance the user experience. The goal was to create an interactive and educational platform that would guide users through their investment strategy options and provide a highly visual and interactive view of their investments and portfolio composition.
Problem
The existing tool had a fragmented user experience, limited drill-down capabilities, unclear calls-to-action, buried financial tools, and inadequate investing guidance. These issues made it difficult for users to effectively manage their portfolios and make informed investment decisions.
My Contributions
As the Senior UX Designer, I utilized Design Thinking, Wireframing, UX Design, User Research, and Prototyping to address these challenges. I conducted stakeholder interviews, listened to live support calls, and tested prototypes with customers to gather insights and validate design choices. My role also involved managing a small team to ensure cohesive project execution.
Outcomes
The redesigned tool transformed into an interactive, immersive experience that significantly improved financial literacy among users. It provided clear guidance and decision-making support tailored to individual investment styles, resulting in a more engaging and effective platform.
