This project aimed to develop a mobile point of sale (POS) tool to empower sales associates with timely and accurate information, thereby enhancing their interactions with customers and boosting furniture sales in-store.

Problem

Sales associates faced several challenges, including slow terminals, difficulty in finding product information and images, limited inventory visibility, and inconsistent pricing between online and in-store offerings.

My Contributions

I conducted extensive research using user surveys, one-on-one interviews with over 15 sales associates, focus groups, and field observations. I was responsible for the visual design of screens and I also facilitated prototype testing to ensure the tool met user needs. My skills in UX research, user interface design, and data analysis were pivotal in identifying key pain points and crafting a user-centric solution.

Outcomes

The mobile POS tool enabled sales associates to quickly search for furniture items by brand, model number, or SKU directly from the sales floor. This led to a 10% increase in volume per sales ticket and a 32% increase in customer satisfaction, as associates could provide accurate inventory status and delivery times, significantly reducing customer frustration.
